No sound Gateway GT4022 on Vizio E321VL

I am getting frustrated I have read everything I can find and I still can't get sound thru the HDMI cable.
Like I stated in the topic I am running a Gateway GT4022 on a Vizio E321VL TV set. I think the problem is because the computer has built in video and I installed a video card. The video card is Sapphire Radeon HD4550 512 MB DDR3 VGA/DVI/HDMI PCI-Express Video Card 100252HDMI. I bought and installed the card because I want to be able to connect the computer to the TV via HDMI instead of the VGA.
Please help me with this. I will be glad to type commands in terminal and copy and paste code.

Is there any chance that you've missed a setting on the TV itself? Some TVs require that HDMI is turned on in the audio settings. It may be set to dolby digital or something...
Apologies if you've already checked this.
Cheers,
