Bluetooth on HP/Compaq 6910p receives but won't send

I'm having trouble getting bluetooth working both ways (i.e. send and receive) between my HP Compaq 6910p laptop and my Samsung J700i Cellphone. They pair OK and I can send data from the phone to the laptop instantaneously. However, I can't send anything from the laptop to the phone. Nor can I send data to my Polaroid PoGo bluetooth printer.


The Send job appears to start running OK but "Notifications" shows that no data is actually being sent - the file name appears as it should, but the progress bar doesn't move. Even if I leave it for 10 minutes.

The laptop sends beautifully when I'm running Windows 7 on it, so there's nothing wrong with the adapter.

I've tried it as Root as well as a User.

Any ideas anybody?

I am using (IBM T20)PClinuxOS openbox mini with pcmanfm file manager and a Sony ericsson W995. I have found that installing blueman , bluez and their dependencies, with the addition of  obexftp and  libobexftp0, pcmanfm needs the last two items, works quite well.

Reboot and insert your bluetooth dongle, start bluetooth manager.

right click bluetooth icon

select local services
select transfer
select advanced

set folder to Downloads
tick the ‘accept files from trusted devices’ box

nautilus --browser obex://[%d]
change to
pcmanfm obex://[%d]


It seems the order of recognition is important for things to work smoothly, first  make your PC visible , in my case with the SE W995 scan for devices and pair.

Mark trusted.

You should be able to transfer files between devices now.
Works on my system, seems to be a step in the right direction , anyway.

Thank you so much for this response. Installing obexftp and libobexftp0 seemed to do the trick! I wonder why these aren't installed by default, when the other "bluetooth" files install.
