Avidemux creates corrupted files, synaptic characters problem

to delete your strange files, use mc, maybe it will do the job...

Do you mean midnight commander inside the konqueror? If so I tried it, even with root privileges it just says it can't delete the file.

Where you stored this file, on your home partitation?

A solution, generate a new user account, copy your most wanted files on it, and delete the other account with pcc...

When I start to mind the space I might delete the account, but not yet. The real thing what worries my are the weird characters in synaptic and it's behavior.

That did the trick!

I repeated the command with every file, and it's clean from these corrupted files.

Any idea what may have caused this. Some qt issue? I don't have problems to continue using avidemux gtk but still would nice to understand.

I'm still having the same problem with the synaptic. Everything runs smooth and I can install and update through synaptic, but.... It's still messy with those weird characters. When I start synaptic from konsole I get this: (during that session I uninstalled one program.)

One exception: Libreoffice was outdated, I intalled the newest version from lomanager.
