  Win95 --- W95 FAT32 (LBA):  on my system it is -- Windows98se -- which i still use...

[root@jim ~]# fdisk -l

Disk /dev/sda: 160.0 GB, 160041885696 bytes

Units = sectors of 1 * 512 = 512 bytes
Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
I/O size (minimum/optimal): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
Disk identifier: 0x00000000

Device Boot      Start           End             Blocks     Id       System

Partition table entries are not in disk order

M$ may not support Win98se anymore, but it is NOT a dead OS !!

My .02 Cents worth - thank you.

OK, no problem with me.
I stopped using it sometime in the middle of last year,
but
I still have it on the old box which is still functional

I agree .
I stopped because USB support was or became "" cripple "", my floppies were dying, CD's had holes ( besides the big hole in the middle ).
Just called it a day.

Glad you still enjoy it  ;D

Firstly thanks for your help. That Win 95 entry is news to me Xanaflux as it's an acer aspire, one of the last running  running xp by default. I ordered a live cd to save me the bother of downloading and burning it and because it was very cheap and had, they say some other useful programs on it. Also being stamped and commercially produced there's less chance of me losing it! That's a generous offer about the DVD ,I live in bonnie Scotland.

Well, that generous offer was only valid if you lived in the middle of the rain forest or similar place

That's why I thought it was win95
