Right now I see this:



I am connected wireless but don't see the signal indicator. (Isn't the case after a fresh reboot).
After a try to disconnect this icon pops up and seems to stay there till shutdown.


Exactly what mine looks like. At least now that this is known , hopefully it will be fixed by those more knowledgeable than I.

Noticed netapplet fault last week.

I don't know if this is a related problem but I throw it out there in case it is.

When I first boot up and since I have had the connection problem, Firefox runs and runs and runs. You can hear it working overtime for some reason. When I close it and launch it again it won't start. It says Firefox already running and not responding.
If I do a ctrl-esc and end it , I am fine after that. I can close it and open it with no problem.
I mention this because it happened around the same time as the network center problem.

Icon problem is present since I updated drakx packages to overcome the permanent presence of the disconnected icon (red X), if I remember correctly.

drakx-net was patched to reflect a change in kernels > 3.0.x which lead to not detect properly the connection and ultimately to display the red X icon, however the change *should* not affect anything when using a kernel 2.6.38.8 and is really active only when using newer kernels.

the report from uggy related to gkrellm plugin seems to suggest that the problem is not directly related (connectivity not detected from March, drakx-net installed on April ...).

I will try to investigate a bit further ...

Un-installed gkrellm - deleted config files, reinstalled. Now working OK.

NetApplet & Network Centre problem still exists.
