Taskbar question. (SOLVED, THANKS)
« on: April 09, 2012, 03:05:20 PM »
MiniMe on an EeePC, latest, and fully updated. Screen res 800x480:

The answer to this is probably so obvious, but I can't spot it. The Taskbar has the default entries for Information, Wifi, Clipboard, Sound, USB, and a Battery indicator. This indicator keeps moving off the bar and leaving the white arrow instead, which to my mind takes up just as much space as the indicator would. Tried all sorts of fiddling but it finally ends up being the white arrow again.
Could someone help with keeping the indicator on the bar and visible please? I'm a KDE Noob!

Thanks.

First, the group of daemons/entries are on the SYSTRAY (system tray).

Try this ... right click on the white arrow and select System Tray Settings. If you haven't Unlocked your Widgets yet, do so.

On the left side, click on Entries. You will get a display of items currently available on your systray ... and that all of them are probably set to Visibility > Auto. This means that some of the unused items will be hidden when not in used.

Try setting (all) the items you want visible to Visibility > Always Visible.

I went through all the same motions, but didn't see that option. Thanks, Archie.

It's very clearly there for me.

I did notice however that you "don't" need to unlock widgets to make these changes. ;)

I am also, not voicing an opinion about whether or not it will solve the OP's problem.

My first guess would have been to suggest that the widgets were not locked to began with.  ;)
