Hp laserjet 1100P <SOLVED>
« on: April 14, 2012, 08:07:29 PM »
Just bought a new printer, a Laserjet 1100P, which is e-print enabled.  In order to install the firmware to enable the wireless printing I fired up WinXP in vbox.  The update worked just fine and now I can print from XP and from our iPads.  But it won't print from Pclinuxos.  Pclos see's the printer.  It even set it up, but it won't print.  I've tried with and without the USB cable connected.  Hp says that there is no Linux driver for wireless, but that's OK.  It prints wirelessly with the cable connected.  It just won't print from PCLOS.  Do I need to install something?

Any suggestions?

It will print wirelessly from XP and fom iPads even with the cable connected. So if I can't print via wifi from PCLOS shouldn't I be able to connect and print via the cable?  I don't need the cable connected for XP and iPads but I thought that if the cable were connected that it might interfere.  I found that it doesn't.

Hope that makes it clearer.

Update: I found a reference on the HP opensource forum to run hp-setup.  When I did I found that I could setup the printer to use the usb cable.  So now I have it printing for all sources.  I'll mark as solved.
