( Solved ) Dell Latitude D600 + A ticking sound

I installed the latest version of the LXDE 2012 my laptop. Otherwise, everything works fine, except when the machine start-up is always a strong ticking sound internal speaker. It is enormously irritating. Is there any way to that quiet?

I put the PC speaker muted, but it did not help matter

I have that same machine.  Is it only on boot up?   Mine ticks a couple of times when it starts, but afterwards it runs fine.  It could be "just one of those things" as the sound system is initialized.

I have a D610, running Phinx at present, and mine does the same. I think it has to do with the soundcard and drivers as my old Celeron 600 running LXDE did not thump the speakers on startup.. It's no worse (or better) when XP plays a sound on startup.

Sorry, don't have an answer..

FWIW my laptop is running KDE & LXDE depending on what I choose, and it always ticks on boot.  Not a big issue with me.

Found the solution to the problem. PulseAudio out of circulation and replaced by alsa, so the final ticking sound at startup. toughness will be rewarded 8)
