SOLVED - Shutdown problem again
« on: April 05, 2012, 06:55:48 PM »
A few days ago I posted the following...

My wife is having troublesome shut downs. When she switches off she  gets a screen full of verbiage scrolling up too fast to read. This fast scrolling goes on until she pulls the plug. (I know, I know, but what's the alternative?)

This also sometimes happens at any time, not just at shutdown.

She is using version 2012 with kde, fully updated on a Dell 820 desktop.

I took the easy way out and reinstalled Pclos 2012 (kde) but the same problem came back

Thanks for any ideas.

Have you tried pressing the scroll/pause key to see what the verbiage actually says?

Thanks youcantoo. My wife has opened and closed a number of times but it's shutting down perfectly. Go figure. ???

However if it happens again I'll try pausing and report back.

Hopefully it will happen no more.

Well it did happen twice more and pressing Pause didn't stop it so - plug had to be pulled again. But now the same thing is happening with my machine which I reinstalled only a few days ago too.

Had a similar experience once. I changed the keyboard. Seems there were sticky keys. Cant say if that is your problem here. It sure fixed my problem.
