Hi there.

I assume you mean connecting via USB cable?

If yes, then this is what I did on my android tablet:

Go to System Settings > Developers Option. Enable USB Debuging & Stay Awake. (click this option).

Connect the tablet to PC using USB cable. PCLinuxOS should now detect your tablet. After which you can copy files to the tablet's folders.

I'm not sure about that particular device, but you shouldn't have to enable debugging unless you plan on using ADB (android debug bridge)

..I think the setting you are looking for is "USB connection type" or similar...  with most android devices you will get a notification in your notification bar that will take you directly to this setting after plugging the USB cable into both the android device and PC.  It should have options for "charge only" (sounds like the setting you currently have), some sort of USB disk drive mode (what you want), and probably a couple of others.

Unfortunately I can't give you better instructions, as I have custom versions of android on all my devices that won't match the settings menu structure that you have...  perhaps someone else can locate these on a more stock device?

I have an android phone which I connect to pclos for music, ebooks etc.

As soon as I connect it with a usb cable I get a prompt on my phone to connect to an external device. It is recognised in dolphin & I am good to go. You also might connect with bluetooth, but usb is convenient for me so I never tried it.
Acer Aspire, Intel core2 2.20GHz, ‎Graphics nVidia ‎G98M [GeForce G 105M], 2gb ram, Wireless Intel Link 5100

Why, any 5 year old child could understand this.
Somebody bring me a 5 year old.

Still, no progress. Just temporary set back. I do not mind the android, but having pclos on my tablet would be better.

Does the USB notification show in the tablet's notification area?   ..the setting has to be correct on the tablet before it will show up in PCLinuxOS.

If you have wifi or bluetooth on your tab & PC, there are many android apps that will allow you to perform file transfers wireless...  here are a few of my favorites:

Hate to use windows on my desktop, but for now, I have to have it. The only way, so far, is to connect to my tablet. I remove wixp from my laptop. Boots on PCLOS only. Some had success with installing ubuntu on tablet, but I do not like any deb and kind of scary that I will "brick" my tablet. The hardware are more that enough to run KDE. For now, I need to find a way to get connected. Still working on it. Any help available?.
If win can recognize, then pclos should too. Is just another drive?.

temporary success. I found app called Airdroid that is allowing me connect between linux and android via wireless. Noy what I want, but for now have to do. There is a software called gMTP, but have to be compiled and this is above me. Not shure that will work.
How about include the MTP file system in next version?
Thanks

This is what works for me:

On the tablet go to Settings>>>>Applications>>>development>>>Check the box for USB debugging
When you plug the tablet into the PC a usb icon will appear at the bottom of the tablet screen. I usually have to swipe up on the screen and it will say usb connected. Press on the wording, and the android man should pop up, giving you the option to connect to PC.

Then you will be able to open up a file manager on PC through device notifier found in system tray(by clock). If all is going well you should either see the name of the partition or device. Left click that partition and open with file manager. I split the file manager screen between the tablet and my file source to copy and paste

If the android OS on the tab has been modified so that it is only available as an MTP device, you can access it using mtpfs (or any media player that supports MTP)...

Install mtpfs:
Code: [Select]
su -c "apt-get install mtpfs"
Create a folder in your HOME directory to mount the device to:
Code: [Select]
mkdir -p $HOME/LePan
Plug in your device via USB and mount it:
Code: [Select]
mtpfs $HOME/LePan
..when you are done using it, close all apps that are accessing it, then unmount to "safely remove":
Code: [Select]
fusermount -u $HOME/LePan

...if this works, we should be able to set up auto-mounting.

I tried the info on the post linked above, as well.

I tried in my regular user and as root. I included the -o allow_others option once as well.

I get and error about nothing being at the end point.

I have a Samsung Galaxy Player 4.2 running android 2.3.6.

This is my first android after dumping my itouch (Apple was as disappointing as Windows).

So, for now I use a Windows Machine or WiFi. But the more I use PCLOS, the less I want to go back to my old WinXP machine.

I am hoping for a solution soon.
