I just setup a TrendNet TE100-P21 network print server unit, and it prints via Ethernet to HP 2200 from Windows 7, and the KDE "Configure Your printer" sees the server, (Server Name: PS-7308D0) but when I try to send a test page to the printer (twice), and open the print status window, it says job 156, user root Printer (fisrt line blank,) second line LaserJet; Time submitted (both) 36 minutes ago; Status (first line:) Pending; (Second line:) Processing. Printing troubleshooter syas "The printer's state message is 'Connected to printer...' Printing troublshooter tiries to print test page--no go. Status message: "The printer's state message is 'Remote host did not accept data file (32). There are a blue million
messages in the error log and another whole slew in the Diagnostic Output (Advanced.)
The printout I got from Windows reads as follows: Server name: PS-7308D0; Server Model: TE100-P21; Hardware Version B1; Firmware Version: 3.25;
MAC address: 00 14 D1 73 08 D0 ; IP Address: 192.168.0.1; subnet mask: 255.255.255.0; Default Gateway: 0.0.0.0; Port Name: PS-7308D0-U1, PS-7308D0-U2, PS-7309D0-P3.
(The ports are, respectively USB1, USB2 and Parallel port.)
This computer prints over the Ethernet to an Epson 4530 All-In-One Ink-jet. FWIW, the Windows machine, at least at present, does not; it needs a USB hard wire.
The HP Device Manager does not see the printer or the server at all. It does see an HP970Cse which is hard wired to this computer. It does not see the Epson, which is perhpaps
to be expected.
