(Solved) LXAppearance & GTK Theme Switch 2 issue.
« on: March 31, 2012, 06:45:33 AM »
This has been an ongoing problem but I haven't bothered asking before. I notice in LXDE installs you have to change themes in both lxappearance and gtk theme switch in order for the theme to draw correctly. is there some reason for this or a fix? usually lxappearance alone is enough in other distros.

Good things come in small packages. From small minds, not so much.

I use obconf or lxappearance. Either is sufficient.

actually it isn't. the themes don't draw correctly when switching unless you use both. I can post some screens if you like.

edit: it may have something to do with using themes that come with both a gtk3 and a gtk2 version.
I'm checking.

re-edit: nope. some themes change with either one, some don't. beats me. might be related to the some fonts work in titlebars and some don't. beats me.

apparently some themes "lock" parts of themselves and to completely change to a different theme you have to use both is all I can see.  ???

Calling me a liar? >:( Not smart, Lou. Go read the rules. >:( And do not do it again.

When I say, "I use obconf or lxappearance. Either is sufficient." you can bet your ass that that is how it works for me. Don't like it? Fine. But don't call me a liar. Just because you have some kind of problem does not mean you get to say such things to me or anyone else. Be polite!

Without more info, there is no way to figure out why your system is different.

You've been here long enough to know that "it don't work" is not information.

omg Neal. I was hardly calling you a liar. I was pointing out on my system it wasn't and as I tried to explain it is not a system issue per se but as it turns out only certain themes have the problem. not related to LXDE or Openbox at all.

man. I will refrain from asking anything else or posting. ciao

It certainly looked like you did.
I said, "this works here." You said, "no, that does not work." If you had said the former and I the latter, you would take it the same way.

Yea? That's the way to handle a disagreement?

Is there any reason why we lately seem to get a cow over nothing?  There is some unnecessary aggression in this forum lately I am sure most of us could do without.  Nobody wants to walk on eggs when here because something might just offend somebody and than we are in trouble .... who wants to be in place like that?  I don't think anybody here "attacks" anybody on purpose, especially not between old forum hands.

Relax ....    ??? ??? ???
