Trash/Recycle Bin Location
« on: March 30, 2012, 03:17:30 AM »
Hi All  :)

Can't seem to find anyone who's asked this question before... Why is there a copy of the Recycle (Trash) Bin on every partition of every drive and on any connected USB drives?  I've got three HDD's + USB and I don't think I need multiple copies of rubbish I want to get rid off!  ;D

This really came to the fore last night when I used BleachBit for the first time.  The question is can I restrict the 'folder' to one location only (like you can in Windows).  I looked under "properties" but there were no options for this.  :-X

I'm on Zen if that makes a difference.

Cheers.  ;)

There isn't a copy. There's a separate bin. Otherwise you would have to wait a very long time to copy large files from one partition to another when dumping them.

Bleachbit: In Edit > Preferences - there is an Whitelist option which states "these paths will not be deleted or modified"

And there is the Drive option to add/remove folders

Where is Edit > Preferences?

Open Bleachbit upper left (in the tool bar) you will see File - Edit - Help click on Edit then Preferences

Thanks Ternor... I was just about to ask the same question!  :D

Not sure how that answers my question though i.e. how to prevent (as kjpetrie says) a trash/recycle bin file being placed across all drives/partitions including windows fat32...  ::)

I have found folders labelled 'Trash.*' on a mounted partition on which I have deleted files.  When I see it, I delete it.  The partition (usually / always?) affected is a general storage partition mounted at /data.
