The Live CD defaults to the RadeonHD 2000 and later ( radeon/fglrx)> driver and it works great with the live CD. I'm going to do a clean reinstall tonight and see how it goes with the recommendations given.

grub will detect the windows install and add an entry for it, but to be sure, you should at least boot from the liveCD and give us fdisk -l output.
