Hello!

I installed PCLinusOS KDE 2012.02 version successfully and I update the system with Synaptic as usual. After it I wanted to use the Localization Magager to licalize my system. Clicking in the Localization Manager icon the bouncing icon appears in the taskbar for some seconds then it disappears. No window to enter the root password. So I can not localize the system. Of course I restart my computer before it.

Then I tried to launch the Localization Manager with root user in terminal. Entering the addlocale command into the terminal noting happens, but in the terminal I see this message:

stdin: is not a tty

I think it is because of the latest Addlocale version.

What is the solution?

Thanks

Zoltán

Nope. That message is null feedback as far as addlocale is concerned. It only tells you that you are using a gui terminal, i.e. a terminal emulator in an x environment.

Have a read through of this thread:

Hi zvaranka,

are you sure you fully updated your system? Then please reboot, login to your user-account, open a terminal (konsole) and enter: addlocale  and let us know what happens and/or post the terminal output here.
thanks,
-p.

update: just found out I made a stupid error, please check here for more details.

ok, but make sure to first delete xsuaddlocale in /tmp if it is present.

When can the addlocale 4.1.5 be downloadable?

it is already in the repo, for example use the heanet mirror, or ensure to have the latest repo information: install apt-sources-list and restart Synaptic, the Reload, etc.

Hmm, it's not in my repos .
Why would that be ?

I downloaded it with checking the http://pclosusers.com/pclosfiles/ item in the repository list.

Sorry, I expressed myself a little poorly.

I understood that I had to do above, as it was written very clearly.

My question should have been :

Why do I have to install apt-sources-list.?
I have installed one already
Can it get corrupted
Did it get old?  invalid?  what ?   ?

The info I want it < technical >

No problem in installing it. Just want to know what possible could have happened , so that I have to..... :)

Thanks

OK
I still would like an answer on above

Second, I << install apt-sources-list and restart Synaptic >>

Synaptic still shows addlocale 4.1-4.
Trying to install addlocale via the Localization Manager still gives no results.

<<<but make sure to first delete xsuaddlocale in /tmp if it is present.>>>
is also taken care off with each attempt

Trying via konsole also gives no results

In both cases , xsuaddlocale in /tmp , gets installed every time.

That's all...no icons, no nothing.
Please advice

thanks

After repeated attempts, I gave up un Heanet and switched to...Jaist...
Addlocale 4.1-5 was there and I installed it. ( so was gparted )
Switched back to heanet,  checked synaptic, ..still there.

Installed OK
Don't see an icon in task bar for convenient switching between 2 languages

Changing one to another and back to first one via reboot works fine
