+ sign in circle
« on: March 21, 2012, 07:51:38 PM »
When you highlight certain icons or widgets (I don't know which) you produce a little white plus sign inside a circle next to it.
Does this mean something, and if so, what?  Examples: Home icon, Floppy icon (made from a script OldPolack referred me to),
KGUVCmc.exe icon--an icon for a Windows routine that runs on Wine.  The Trash icon produces TWO plus signs.
Thanx for the trivia info.  --doug

Replying to myself:

I _think_ that the + in a circle indicates a file is an icon, rather than a widget. Found by turning off Icon lock icon _or_   Lock screen.  When nothing happens with one set of "icons"
but when you relock icon, you now should be able to decide which is which icon  or which is runnaable file.

Like what AndrzejL stated, the +/- on the circles are only for selecting/deselecting files.

That is in a filemanager .......  I believe the OP is referring to the + sign seen on an icon on the desktop?

Makes no diff. :) FM or Folder view -  selecting multiple files (this is why it's only comming up on "icons" and not on widgets) without using CTRL button.

That of course does turn them off in the filemanager ...  but not on the desktop icons as far as I am aware ....
