No sound after update <solved>

All I did was update PCLInuxOS and my sound disappeared. I have checked the sound settings to be sure it was not muted. I'm not sure what happened. I could use some help. Thanks!

...This has happened to a client of mine a few weeks back...and I have not checked it out as yet - because i have been taking care of my bedridden dad, and cannot help to find the culprit at this time...I am commenting here to get attention to this, which might help both of us -and others..... :-\

My CLIENTS scenario is a bit different - like what is here with 'LOW" sound...and he's using LXDE....

I ran alsaconf as root and reconfigured my sound card. Everything works fine now!
