I want to thank everyone for their contributions and ideas. Since making the plea for help, several community members have submitted articles, article ideas, and there are others that are "in the works."

Please, don't just let it stop there. We will be needing (and welcoming) article submissions on an ongoing monthly basis. If you're not sure about a topic, send me or Meemaw a PM and pitch your idea. You never know!

Thanks again!

Hello, I have just started reading your magazine and really love it. It has been awhile sense I have used Linux. But am real excited to use PCLinuxOS. I think a good section to add would be a Newbee corner. Just small little articles with tips and tricks that experienced users take for granted. Tips that would make a Newbee feel like a stud if he used them. Just a thought. Thanks for your magazine!  ;D

Paul;

The work you and the team have done for the magazine has been outstanding...but maybe that is part of the problem.  You guys have covered almost everything there is of interest.  Linux is cool, but after all it is only an O/S.  Ideas have been difficult to come up with...so have you thought of switching to a quarterly release?  It might be easier that way have fresh ideas.

I wish I could help...but my newborn refuses to relinquish any of my time to other pursuits besides work and him.

With over 13,000 packages in the repos, I hardly suspect that we've even scratched the surface of things to cover. So, at this point in time, I have not considered a quarterly release. It's just that three or four people can't possibly be proficient enough to cover over 13,000 different packages. All I'm asking for is that if some people around here have any special interests that they come forward and contribute to the magazine.

For example, I know there's a ham radio thread in here, and that some of those members use PCLinuxOS to keep their logs and perform other tasks related to their ham radio activities. How nice it would be to highlight how PCLinuxOS is used to help them with their hobby.

That's just one example, and I'm sure there are others.

But, at this point, we're willing to keep things going on a monthly basis ... even if it means producing a smaller magazine every month. However, the size doesn't HAVE to shrink, if we can get some contributions.

On that note, I'd like to PROFUSELY THANK those who have stepped up in recent months with contributions of articles to The PCLinuxOS Magazine. It's things like this that truly makes this a community magazine.

As parnote says, it may be as easy as doing a review of a program you use that others don't... it's also possible to expand on an article we wrote about other uses of a program that we didn't cover. It does happen! In fact, I know I covered most all the financial programs, but since I don't do online banking and still write checks by hand, I know I didn't say anything about how to connect to your bank from them or print checks, or even which programs are capable of it.

Just a couple of ideas.... with 13,000 packages in Synaptic, I'm sure you don't use all the same things that I use...

Thanks to all!!!

Just a note to thank you for making this opportunity available.  :D  I have some definite ideas esp in regards to Amateur Radio(Ham) and related  BCB Radio Dxing and how this might be of interest to Linux/PcLinuxOS Users  who are Radio Hobbyists too.  I will be in touch. :)

So Articles of Hobbies, such as Recording Music, and adding Video, plus having experimented with programs to do such just browsing Synaptic would be of interest ? There's some very 'Obtuse' things laying about in there that are quite startling once you figure how to use them.

Suppose bottom line;

Absolutely!  You should probably browse past issues of the magazine (or the Article Search, which has them all now) to see if it has been done, too.

We welcome all ideas!   Thanks so much!

Tony & TekNinja,

Absolutely!

And don't think just Linux apps. If you have a Windows app that you can run under Wine, that would also be OK.
