The PCLinuxOS Magazine NEEDS your help!
« on: March 16, 2012, 09:36:02 PM »
Ok guys,

The PCLinuxOS Magazine is your community magazine. It's produced by volunteers from this community. However, lately 90% of the work on the magazine has come down to 4 individuals. And only 3 of us write articles. And, we're running out of ideas and steam.

So ... we need your input. Our magazine won't be much of a magazine without articles to fill its pages. We need members of this community to submit articles. You don't have to be "a writer." That's something me and Meemaw and Darrel can take care of. Just so long as we can figure out what you're trying to say, we can put on a coat or two of polish and make you sound like a writer.

The preferred article submission vehicle is Google Docs. With that being said, I'll take articles written on toilet paper and illustrated with stick figures. The magazine just needs content. Submit your articles written in AbiWord, LibreOffice, Kate, Kwrite, Mousepad, Leafpad or any other format that displays text.

What kind of content? Articles need to be of interest to Linux users, and preferably specific to PCLinuxOS. Articles have to be in good taste and be fitting of appearing in a "family oriented" magazine.

I know there are quite a few "new users" here, so here's your chance to contribute.

HERE is a link to The PCLinuxOS Magazine Submission Guide & Style Manual. If you want to submit an article, send me or Meemaw a PM here on the forum, and we'll give you our email address in private.

Guys ... we really need your assistance. I'm also posting this in the Sandbox, since it will probably get noticed more (I know there are those of you who ONLY read the Sandbox).

HELP!

I'm sure anything you wrote on networking would be great. Here's a suggestion. How about describing how you approach a networking problem? Do you have a general outline of steps to take, or does it depend on the situation?

Paul,

I sent you two small articles this evening. Have another one that is forming in my mind. That one might not make the cut off for the next issue.

Thanks, Jim!!!   (They look good too!!!!)

We appreciate all the submissions that we've gotten!! Please understand that we will probably spread them out among the next few months. Keep them coming, too, as we want to keep your wonderful, interesting articles showing up in the magazine for a long time.

I have one suggestion rather than an article.
We have lot of problems solved in the forum and postings in tips&tricks section.
We can probably have some process to vote for top 5 or top 10 solved problems or tips&tricks and have them include in the magazine.

I know we all use the search feature in the forum before asking question but having a section like this in the magazine will give more visibility to more common problems.

If you guys agree, I have one post (only such post) for dns caching in the forum and in the knowledge base :)
