USB 3.0 card not recognized
« on: April 08, 2012, 11:18:11 AM »
I thought the Linux kernel from way back had usb 3.0 incorporated. I just bought a 3.0 card and dropped it in. I can't seem to find it in any hardware information. I have an external USB 3.0 (backwards to 2.0) drive that works when I plug it into my 2.0 hub. Nothing 3.0 seems to be found. Currently using kernel 2.6.38.8-pclos3.a64.

Is there a trick to having 3.0 hardware seen by the operating system?
Desktop1: AMD64 8450 [3 core]; 8GB; 3.2.18-pclos2.pae.bfs; KDE
Desktop2: AMD64 5400 [8 core]; 16GB; 3.2.16-a64; KDE
Netbook: EeePC 901; Atom N270; 1GB; 2.6.33.7-pclos6.bfs; KDE

Craesz,

post the output of lspci command, or even better:
Code: [Select]
lspci -nn -k

Have no idea why it initially was not recognized. I am using it now. I did reboot in between but I installed it all with the machine off. Figured that the kernel would find it on power up. Maybe it takes a reboot to be found after a cold boot.
