acer aspire one 722 (solved)
« on: April 10, 2012, 02:11:19 AM »
i recently bought an aspire one as linux worked very well on the last one i had. the new one (722 series) comes with the amd dual core, raedon graphics and ddr3. linux will not load either thumb drive or external dvd player will work. i have the latest iso 2012.2 i believe just no luck installing. the only weird thing i noticed that it had that maybe would mess with things is the two finger mouse pad. i tried using a usb mouse during install but it didnt work either. i am sorry i didnt get the spot where it hangs but i know it goes through hardware thinking continues on and then hangs. i will try again later and post back with the exact spot where it hangs. i believe it wont let the mouse move so you can choose the us keyboard but it has been a while back and things here at the motel are really hopping with the 65 to 75 degree days. any ideas.

You can try a few things( as I did with my new laptop )

On your existing PCLinuxOS install a new kernel and make a remaster.
That worked for me

OR

Take your usual 2012-2 LiveCD and boot up in Video Safe Mode FBDEV
Or, boot up in Safe boot

At command prompt,
You can configure all or most by entering the command: XFdrake

If this fails, please report

go into bios change the boot order :o to network ist all usb devices second, cd, then hard drive. the problem is when the wireless starts automatically i guess ???  it screws things up. it will take some tweaking to get the wireless working as far as the ubuntu forum ::) posts about this particular acer model but the bios boot order is the first step to get it to load linux. :-* lets see if i can get that web page, http://www.linlap.com/wiki/acer+aspire+one+722. so a good place to start. 8)
