Making Adobe Flash Builder 4.5 work on Eclipse, on PCLinuxOS
« on: March 14, 2012, 08:15:22 AM »
Gentlemen,
This year I got a new class in the college: Web multmedia development. And... Guess what? It's all based on Adobe Flash...
While all my colleagues sport their notebooks, with that other OS(which I will not even cite), they stared at me with laughter: Haha, do you think you will be able to make the exercises of the class ? And actually do something of Flash programming on Linux, even more this unknown PCLinuxOS...
Well, my blood boiled, and I settled to get things done, with Linux, PCLinuxOS and my notebook.
And I did. I managed to install Eclipse and the plugins to work with Flash development.

Here is how:
1-Download Flash Builder for Linux, 4.5 - from here: http://code.google.com/p/fb4linux/downloads/list
2-Unpack it, following these instructions: http://code.google.com/p/fb4linux/wiki/HowToInstall  - But just unpack it. The install process will be slightly different.
3-Now, you have the following directories: /eclipse

    /features
    /plugins

4-Search for /usr/share/eclipse
5-There, search for the two directories   /features & /plugins
6-Copy the content from the Flash Builder directories /features & /plugins into the /usr/share/eclipse respective /features & /plugins directories.
7-Overwrite the files you have to(must do it as root)
8-And, voilá
9-You have Flash Builder for Linux installed and working. Should appear in the new project, other projects menu. Easy as a breeze.

Hope you enjoy it

Best Regards!
