see here, should be fixed now on fast synching mirrors (heanet, Swiss, etc)
-p.

That link doesn't work...thought I wait a bit for the repos to sync, anyway...

Trying to update still wants to remove pdfjam.  Haven't updated my main install, yet.  On another install where I let it remove it, I still cannot re-install in...

Update

Tried to (re-)install jadetex, but that fails, reporting a broken package.  texlive (20110705-3pclos2012) shows as Broken, after that, and fails to "fix".

Tried to select all packages with "jadetex" in them (jadetex, texlive-jadetex and texlive-texmf-jadetex), but
Quote
texlive-jadetex:
 Depends: texlive-latex (= 2007-21.r6295.2pclos2010)
 Depends: texlive-latex (= 2007-21.r6295.2pclos2010)

and it won't let me select them all...

texlive, then shows up as broken, again.  Try to "fix", and
Quote
E: Error, pkgProblemResolver::Resolve generated breaks, this may be caused by held packages.
E: Unable to correct dependencies

The updated texlive did not help.  pdfjam and jadetex are still exhibiting the same problems, which prevent them from being installed...

Seems to be some version mis-matches with some of the texlive packages?

Lots of 2007*, and only a few 2011*?

I have a similar problem, only on my machine "Gimp" had to be removed for the update, and now will not re-install due to 2 "poppler" files not being "installable" ?

I tried this update on the 12th march (about 3am UK time)
I do not have "texlive" at all (either before or after update) so I doubt it's that.

weird for sure, I don't use Gimp very much, so it's not a biggy, but it is weird.

updated from heanet repo.

Judging from other posts it seems like the programs due for removal, varies from machine to machine, very strange  :-\

hope it helps towards someone figuring whats wrong.

(not with my machine, but in general).

I should add, this is 2011.9 updated over the course of time and standard Kde DE (not full monty or mini).

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

[edit]

today, I noticed that the 2 "uninstallable poppler files" were not in the repo, (they were all older versions).

Disclaimer:
I am not suggesting anyone else do this, as Neal has said many times  " testing is just that, testing, and is not supported".

anyway, having not much on this machine to worry about, I added testing to synaptic, and then they appeared as if by magic !
got them both, and was then able to re-install gimp.

weird, having to use "testing" files to run gimp  ???

I hope this is helpful to those trying to figure all this out, if not, mods just remove the post  :)

OK.  This still appears to be unresolved, and I'm continuing to get further behind in updates, so...

I made a Live(USB) backup of my install (apps only, not personal data).  Tested (testing, right now) on my laptop to make sure it boots.  Even did the update into the Live environment, just to see if anything has an obvious "hissy fit".  So far, so good...

Next, after getting out of the LiveUSB, I'll do the updates on the installed version, and see what happens...worst case scenario is boot back up into LiveUSB, backup data and re-install...

...I'm going to keep this thread going a little longer to monitor and report progress, as well as see what others go through / suggest.

Wish me luck!

As an update...

Still cannot re-install pdfjam, jadetex or texlive-jadetex (same errors as previously).

As an improvement(?), after attempting to select texlive-jadetex, texlive no longer shows up as a "Broken" package...

 :(

pdfjam  is the only one showing a dependency problem at present, here.

I don't know what the problem is as the only two dependencies listed for that package are present in the repo.

In addition to the pdfjam dependencies:

there are also jadetex dependencies:

Also, texlive-jadetex won't install because of version issues:

It seems that not all the texlive packages are at the same, current versions:

Lots of 2007-24* versions still, when current is 20110705*...

a further hint: texlive package declare jadetex 'obsolete' therefore they cannot be installed at the same time ...
... guess that pdfjam should be rebuilt against texlive, and jadetex removed from completely from the repo ...

Had another look at jadetex .......  it does not inform me of a dependency error when I mark for installation  .......   but if I try to Apply I get an error that I have to fix broken packages first.
