(Solved) Titlebar text not always changing.
« on: March 04, 2012, 05:23:17 AM »
I have two installs of LXDE. one from 2011 and one 2012.1. In the older fully updated one I can change the titlebar font to whatever I have installed. in the new one I can only change to a few of the fonts I have installed. The style and size does change. just not the font family.

edit: just to clarify, all the fonts show up in obconf and I can select them but the titlebar doesn't actually change.

Lou,

Are you talking about changing the settings here?

I haven't tried all the fonts and sizes, but it appears to be working on my updated LXDE. Are you saying it's not working on a brand new install?

yep. that's the problem. It works with some fonts but not all in the 2012 install I have, but it works with any font in my updated 2011 install including the updates I did today.

Are you sure, you have all fonts installed?

yes Leiche. The fonts actually show up in the preview window when I select them. They also work in GIMP, Conky etc. I can send some screenshots I suppose.

interesting. it turns out once I had shutdown my 2011 install last night after updating and booted this morning, the font I had been using for the active and inactive titlebar font for over a year no longer works. here's a screen, as you can see the font is shown but doesn't work in the titlebar.

edit: two packages were removed during the updates I did yesterday on my 2011 install..
jadetex and xmltex. I don't know if that's what caused the font to stop working or not.

apparently it might have something to do with it. before I updated I took a "snapshot" of my install in virtualbox. once I reverted back to the pre-updated version the font is working again. so the two packages that were removed may have caused the issue.

well, apparently this might be an LXDE problem because one, I updated my openbox install and the fonts still work there, and two, I installed Lubuntu 12.04 beta2 and it has the same problem with some of the same fonts. very mysterious.  ???

edit: apparently it's not all LXDE installs because some work, some don't. very baffling.

okay. it seems the font issue has to do with which openbox theme you happen to be using. certain fonts work in certain themes and not with others. I haven't a clue why.
