it's an 80 GB IDE-hd.
I have a SATA&IDE to USB-interface and if I put it on the drive and plug in the USB-connector the drive is not seen (it does spin up etc). will try to put it on an IDE-port in an older PC to see if it is detected there etc, but I'm afraid the drive-electronics got zapped one way or another (never happened to me over much more than 15 years and now probably twice in a year, even messed up a USB-stick: bad luck??)

is there a (linux-)program to read directly from the drive to see if it can be accessed?
