Old-Polack,

 I changed my GATEWAY=192.168.1.99 to GATEWAY=192.168.1.1

And in start kde system settings -system administration- startup and shutdown- autostart, can i  add my script from /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts my ifcfg-wwan0 or is that wrong ?

 Derek.

The question is whether that is the actual address of your router? If you ping that address do you get a proper response? Just like your machine, the router's address can be set to whatever you wish it to be within that network. The configuration file must then use that address, by which the router then knows itself.
Old-Polack

Of what use be there for joy, if not for the sharing thereof?

Lest we forget...

Think i have done something wrong to my computer. When PCLinuxOs boots up it gets to the desktop 1 and freezes.

 I went into kde system settings -system administration- startup and shutdown- autostart, and added my script /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts my ifcfg-wwan0start.

Any way to fix my computer from freezing.

Derek.

The content of the ifcfg-wwan0 is:

Quote

this is not a script,this is a network configuration file.It is a configuration file used by a networking tool to setup a network interface.

you can stop your computer from freezing by removing this file from the autostart list. You can only autostarts scripts and programs,not configuration files.

scripts starts with something like
Quote
#!/bin/bash

...start kde systemsettings->system administration->startup and shutdown->autostart->add program or add script

This was the last line muungwana wrote in his previous post, I believe this is what you should have done, the file you add is connect320.sh, do not mess around with the network configuration, we know that works when you manually connect with the connect320.sh

You just need to:

Quote
start kde systemsettings->system administration->startup and shutdown->autostart->add connect320.sh

Edit:
You may also need to reset GATEWAY=192.168.1.99 that is back to the original.

I can`t go into start kde systemsettings->system administration->startup and shutdown->autostart and remove connect320.sh as my computer freezes and won`t let me go into system settings.

 Is there any way other i can stop it ?

Yes there may be a way, but first let us clear up:

Quote
I went into kde system settings -system administration- startup and shutdown- autostart, and added my script /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts my ifcfg-wwan0start.

Above is what you said a bit higher in the thread, then I suggested that you should have done:

Quote
start kde systemsettings->system administration->startup and shutdown->autostart->add connect320.sh

Which of the two are we talking about now?  Do you mean that you have added the add connect320.sh script, or did you get mixed up?

When this is clear we will see about "unfreezing"   ;D

Edit I think I am misunderstood, re-reading, do you mean you added the  connect320.sh inside your networkscript? that is you copied the script into the location?

log in using root's account,browse to your user home directory,then go to ".kde/Autostart" folder and delete the entry you added that hang the system.

Thats the folder where autostart programs/scripts are added to.

wedgetail, What i did was i added the script file, NOT the contents just the file. if that sounds right.

 I`ll try what muungwana said and see if that works.

Yes what muungwana is suggesting is the right thing now.

When you say your pc freezes do you mean that you are not getting the opportunity to log in before it freezes?  Or do you never login when you start up?

Perhaps it is time to ask if you have a LiveCD ready you can use?

My computer can login to the desktop but that is when it freezes. i have auto login so i don`t need to put in my password.

I was hoping you did not have the Autologin set, but since I run that myself in the past 12 month, perhaps it is time that I also learn how to proceed in a case like yours, where the system is getting into a knot. I think there is a way to use the boot menu but I think it is better that somebody else answers this question.

In your case I would be tempted to use a LiveCD, but wait and see.  :)
