« on: March 01, 2012, 04:03:42 PM »
Hello,

I just upgraded my internet service from a Pocket WIFI to a Bigpond 4G USB Sierra Wireless AirCard 320U. I`m not sure how to setup the driver for it though.

Kernel-version:    2.6.38.8-pclos3.bfs
KDE4-version:                           4.6.5

Download the tar.gz package for your kernel, then follow the instructions given in the link you posted.

Of what use be there for joy, if not for the sharing thereof?

ls: cannot access /dev/ttyUSB*: Not a directory

1) When you report errors always use copy & paste, otherwise things become confused very early, the above message probably was "No such file or directory"

2) When the instruction are telling to use sudo, as this is not used in PCLinuxOS, use su instead
Code: [Select]
sutype in the required password and proceed with the remaining part of the commands.

When you see the `#' as prompt character along the instructions, that means you should be running as root,  use su.

unplug your usb device, wait for 5 seconds, plug it back in, wait for two seconds and then run the following command and give your output

dmesg | tail -n 10

i think the problem is that the system sees the device as a usb mass storage device and not as a usb based wireless card.

There are posts here i remember seeing a while back that gives instructions on how to make your system see the device appropriately. hopefully, somebody who knows what they are talking about will come along and help you out.
