Wine 1.4-rc5 help
« on: March 01, 2012, 07:39:26 PM »
I'd like to try Wine 1.4-rc5 (the latest) but I can't find an up-to-date  RPM that might work on pclos, and when I downloaded the source file, the readme says it needs XFree86-devel, which is not available in the Synaptic repo.  (It looks like to install that from scratch leads to dependency hell.)

(This is a sandbox install of pclos, so I don't care if it blows up, but I'd like to try a couple of Win progs that won't work in the existing version.)

Sooooo--when can we expect Wine 1.4-rc5 in the repo?

the maximum you can expect is the final release of wine 1.4, once it works on PCLinuxOS, when we have the time to build and test it successfully.

As far as XFree86, you may want to read this from early 2004.
