no set up printer icon
« on: February 29, 2012, 09:31:02 PM »
Hi,

I'm trying to set up a newly minted lxde installation on an old dell inspiron 600m laptop. When I go to hardware in the control center and try to click on set up printers, nothing happens. What's more is that the usual icon is not there. Instead there is a gray box with little "+" "-" symbols on it.

Thanks for your help!

Open Synaptic and install task-printing.

Brilliant, it worked great thanks. Didn't know it was not pre-installed with the lxde version. Many thanks!

I didn't know it wasn't installed either, it was nothing more than a guess.  It might be that it is only related to the LXDE version. I know that it is there in KDE, which is only what I use.  No offense to any other flavor of PCLOS.
