I did a 2012-02 install Saturday and Evince installed without a hitch.
I just did another 2012-02 install and noticed Synaptic indicated quite a few more updates since Saturday so I'm not sure if that means anything but since it's the same laptop with a different HD I'm pretty sure the hardware isn't the issue.
Maybe I just should wait for the Synaptic repository to resync and try installing Evince later?
Thanks for all your work on this Sproggy, XFCE works great for me!!

That's very sparse on info. What dependency issues? Your story is only a story unless you provide details.

Kinda striking out it seems.  :-\

evince:
 Depends: libevdocument.so.2
 Depends: libevview.so.2
Depends: libpoppler-glib.so.5  but it is not installable

gimp:
Depends: libpoppler-glib.so.5  but it is not installable

Whoever fixed up the Gimp, thanks, got it installed!

3/4/12

epdfview:
Depends: libpoppler-glib.so.5  but it is not installable

I guess Foxit is pretty much the only choice for pdf's for the time being

This libpoppler-glib.so.5 is indeed the bugger that is missing from the repo's and is the reason that many apps can't be installed at the moment in your case evince , gimp. But also inkscape, tumbler....... Maybe more? I encountered this problem last evening too, reported it on irc.

It's removed for some strange reason, i can remember in my testdrives with Phoenix last week everything was fine... Maybe it's awaiting a update? But then again, it shouldn't have been removed from the repo's but rather upgraded...... in my logical thinking that is.... or do i miss something?  :)
