How to go back to previous version of LiberOffice
« on: April 06, 2012, 01:27:17 AM »
Hi All

A few days back I updated my system to 2012-2 and in the process LibreOffice was also updated to version 1.3.1-2.

Unfortunately I have MAJOR problems with this version of LO and would like to revert to 1.3.1. However when I look in Synaptic only the newer, latest version is available.

How do I revert to the earlier version or what Repo must I add to see the older version again?

Thanks for any help

Usually you cannot revert to an earlier version using Synaptic. The older versions of lomanager aren't in the repository anymore. (And of course LibreOffice itself isn't in the repo; it's downloaded and installed by lomanager.)

Why don't you try upgrading to the newest version instead? Your major problems may already have been solved. But remember that you should be fully updated before you install it.

The newest version, by the way, is 3.5.2.2 and the newest version of lomanager is 3.5.2-2pclos2012. (Talking about "version 1.3.1-2" sounds very strange.)

If you absolutely have to revert to an older version you probably have to find it on the LibreOffice site and download it yourself, but that is definitely not recommended. And you won't find many older versions there either.

Thanks "Bald Brick"

Sorry - did the post before I'd had my Coffee this morning  :D !!

The version I have now is 3.5.1-2. The previous version (3.5.1) worked OK with my Database.

I will look into what you suggest and see if I can sort my problem out. I HAVE to get my Database sorted out. Been using Base for 5 years now with lots of problems. When my system upgraded Base would no longer open my DB. Tried Kexi but can't get it to do a couple of things I must have so decided to look at Glom. Can't get it on PCLOS!! Tried on Kubuntu and Linux Mint and even Windows 7 and it WILL NOT RUN (3 different machines, 4 different OpSys-es and 2 versions of Glom!!!! So I MUST try and get Base back running correctly.

Thanks for the help - appreciated!!

Hi,

I think it is not possible to find the former version...

The next version might correct your issue:
http://www.libreoffice.org/download/?type=src&version=3.5.2

but if it does not, would you consider reporting any bug upstream ? https://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/bug/

:)

Each time a user adds his report there is a chance that the program comes better and better, and big bad bugs get away.

Regards,
Mélodie

When I reported that the newest version of lomanager is 3.5.2-2pclos2012 I seem to have been a bit behind the times. Pinoc has just told us that the newest version is 3.5.2-3.

That won't change anything however. It's just an improved installer - it installs the same.

You're the second person to complain the latest update to Base has broken your database. Direct complaints/queries to TDF as they're the ones responsible and the only ones who can fix it. Build number changes shouldn't break functionality without very good reasons, so ask them what they've done, tell them what they've broken, and ask them to help you get your data accessible again. After all, there's no point having a database if it can't be accessed. Data is not a toy.

Having said all that, I've looked through the changelog and can see nothing relating particularly to base and nothing that looks as if it would affect a database. Have you checked the JRE is properly recognised, which is the last stage of the install and has to be done manually each time?

Are you sure that your database is sound?  Perhaps something in it is or has been corrupted???

Have you tried loading a backup of the database?  You do have a backup of it, don't you?
