Dropbox - wan't to stop! [SOLVED]
« on: April 05, 2012, 10:29:05 PM »
Hello,

I mistakenly clicked on the icon to start Dropbox running. Now every time I boot up and access the system Dropbox continues to keep asking me to connect. I don't have or don't wan't a Dropbox account but I would like to stop it firing up and asking if I wan't to connect to it! I am sure this is simple but it's not immediately obvious at the moment!

Cheers for now

Gary

Hi oldgreygary!,

To stop dropbox from starting up at reboot time... Right click on the icon and go to " Preferences..."

Then look at the tabs at the top and make sure you are in the "General" tab.

From there, things should be obvious.

Remove the check mark from any options that you don't want "Start Dropbox on system startup", for example and restart your system.

Good luck.  ;)

If you don't use and don't have a Dropbox account, why don't you just uninstall/remove it using Synaptic?

Also:

Dropbox is probably started from /home/<yourname>/.config/autostart/dropbox.desktop. You could simply try removing that file.
