Special Section?
« on: February 24, 2012, 02:02:35 PM »
Guys, I am right now at someone's house trying to help them with a PCLinuxOS system I installed for them a while back.  They are having trouble with a wine application.  I found out that this particular application requires a newer version of wine.  I found this post mentioning a newer version of wine available on a "special section":

Could someone please point me to this "special section"?  Thanks in advance.

Open Synaptic and under Settings > Repositories  - choose the appropriate repo mirror and where it says Section(s) add the word special

Now reload and the apps in that section should come through

In Synaptic >>> Settings > Repositories > click on your chosen repo mirror > add special to the Section(s): line. Reload.

Thank you very much that worked.  But "special" needs to be lowercase.

I suggest that you remove 'special' after completing your task as it will provide upgrades unsuitable for general use.
