<SOLVED> Display Resolution Problems after 2012 update
« on: February 23, 2012, 08:14:48 AM »
Yesterday I updated my laptop to PCLOS 2012, (Dell latitude D620, Intel graphics).  Until this update installation, I have had no problems with screen resolution previously.

I usually have PCC set for 1024 x 768 and the display fills the screen.  With update, the display at 1024 x 768 only fills about 3/4 of the screen.  In "Configure your desktop" my choices are limited to 1440 x 900 which fills screen OK with very small fonts, or 1024 x 768 with screen not filled.

I have reset in PCC and tried the 1280 x 1024 but I still only have the 1440 x 900 or 1024 x 768 selections with the same results.

Was there a change in the update that might cause this problem?

It's been a long time since I've done anything with a D620.  Check the BIOS for an option to "stretch the display"...or something along those lines...

Other than that, if 1440x900 displays OK (other than text size), that is probably the native resolution of your screen, and as such is probably much "crisper".  I would recommend trying it, and then adjusting the font size in your DE to make the text larger...it may be a nicer looking image, that way...

Well, specs for the D620 are 1280x800  or 1440x900...

My goof.... in PCC I was selecting 1280x768 instead of 1280c800 and everything was reverting to 1440x900.

Now, with 1280x800 selected I have good resolution. If I choose a lower resolution, I cannot fill the screen, even with adjustments in the BIOS.

This 1280x800 is OK and Crisp.
