before i used a Linksys WRT54GS router no issues, but however when i switched to a router that broadcast N a Linksys e3200 I can not pick up the n signal. I was reading up on here about year ago Iwas wondering if the kernel has been updated enough to resolve this problem?

I am currently have a very updated KDE 4 2.6.38.8-pclos1.pae.bfs

have you tried a more recent kernel, pclos3 perhaps?

about the N, is it transmitting on N only or abgN mode?

maybe the problem is the router and not the machine

my netbook works in N on winxp, 150mbps

in linux i am not sure, but it works withotu any problem while being the router set to work on abgN, i'm sure because i forgot the router password last week and had to reset it and reconfigure everything  :-[   :D

Well its funny you said that.

I thought since I had a dual band I had to be able to pick up both, but you were right i went to settings and set it(2.4 channel) to broadcast N only and Viola it still picks it up.

I first tried it winblows it can pick up the N but only in the 2.4 Gh not in the 5 Gh  range which is weird since  my wife laptop HP DV6000 laptop can strangely pick up the both 2.4 and the 5.0

Thank you T6 for being here and hope the rest of you have a great weekend!!

well, it should work in abgN but you prove that the option is there for a reason, to be compatible with hardware that refuses to work on normal settings

glad to help  :)
