Jaydot,
Yes. I do. Does OldPolack? If you are going to remove my response, I believe you should also remove his comment.  It was insulting and certainly not useful to me or anyone else.  I don't know where it came from.

On second thought, please leave as is.

Now. Neal ManBear. Was that a coincidence or did you know something?

I did not say, "Try this." I said, "Install shutter." See the difference? The former would be a suggested solution. The later was a solution. In other words, of course I know something. ::)

Quote
Again, I don't see how Shutter had anything to do with it.  So, it must have been IOManager.  Was it the problem all along? Or, did I (we) unwittingly do a combination of things that fixed it?

Thanks

IOManager? You mean lomanager. That is a lower case "L," not an "I." You are the second person to try to claim that lomanager did something to your icons. Let me make this perfectly clear, lomanager has nothing to do with your icons. Not one thing! It has one job only, the management of Libre Office.

The culprit was shutter. Its last update had changed permissions on icons. (From the shutter people. ::)) Installing our newest update resets the icons permissions. In other words, a new RPM was packaged with the resetting of permissions as a part of the package.

I have come to the conclusion that many ... or quite a few ... PCLinuxOS users (read, users of PCLinuxOS) read the forum less and even SEARCH less.

And I am blaming pinoc ;) because he's made LO Manager so easy that it is so easy to blame it when something goes wrong. Linux shouldn't be easy. We should go back to the old ways! ;D   ;)   8)

I am reluctant to reply for fear of stirring things up even more. Let me just say that computers are not my vocation or even my hobby.  I am just a user who tries to learn enough to keep the system running. I apologize if my ignorance offended anyone.
Again. Thank you to those that helped.

I hope you didn't take my post as a personal attack on you. It really just seem that there are less and less PCLOS users using the Search box and even more complaining about not knowing when there could be info all about in the forum.

Sometimes we just need to bang it in or users are not going to learn and it's all back to square one.

Peace.

Do you mean the old old ways ? When the Linux users had to compile all their system by hand package by package and discover at the end of each configure or make what was the missing dependency, then get it, compile it, discover what was it's missing dependency and so on all day long during about a week before getting something they could start to use ? :)

No, Melodie. You got it all wrong. I didn't mean the 133 ... sensible use of the Internet is diminishing. Things are taken for granted because its easier now.

Example: This was an issue and you tracked it down. I don't user shutter but I knew about it, and I suppose I would have known about it even if I was just another regular user. I use Search and I'm pretty sure you do too ... a lot. Today it's shutter, tomorrow it could be something else.

Isn't that just the logic of things we do and use? So what are you going on about compiles and missing dependencies? The whole point I was making was SEARCH. Where'd you get this idea anyway?   >:(

Sorry Archie, it was very very late here, and... I was joking ! I was referring to the harder times when almost no doc was existing, and even searching the web was very recommended then... and GNU/Linux could not be used by anybody...

So... please don't take my joke bad. :D

Regards,
Mélodie
