Top Command
« on: February 16, 2012, 04:43:01 PM »
Hello,

I ran the top command and the output said there were 3 users - there's only me and root - who's the third one?

Here's the output:

top - 18:23:30 up 19 min, 3 users,

ksysguard says I have these other users:
xfs, uuidd, root daemon (atd,) messagebus and haldaemon twice (acpi and hald)

I ran usb-imagewriter and it crashed, I almost always use ksysguard, but I thought I might get some clues by looking at top

Sorry for my ignorance, but I was afraid there was some 'secret' user on my machine.

Thanks,

Bill

From mine:

top - 17:49:02 up  5:49,  5 users,  load average: 0.27, 0.33, 0.29
top - 17:52:05 up  5:52,  7 users,  load average: 0.26, 0.28, 0.27
top - 17:53:19 up  5:53,  6 users,  load average: 0.42, 0.31, 0.28

Each time I open or close a terminal, the number of users changes, because each terminal is seen as another login. They are all me, or root. Nobody else is currently using my machine. ;D

Of what use be there for joy, if not for the sharing thereof?
