amd64 is for 64bit amd only.

amd64, as used here, is the correct item. It differentiates it from iA64 which was Intel's failed attempt at a 64 bit standard, and only runs on Itanium processors. Since Intel now licenses the technology from AMD, it is what is used by both and what we see referred to as  x86_64.

do that mean that it should be the same and so i could make a 64bit package? if i want ;D

btw: i think it would be the same like 32 bit only the source is other (both is only binary release)

From the TeamSpeak 3.x End User License Agreement:

6. DISTRIBUTION VIA THE INTERNET

The preferred method of distribution of TeamSpeak software over the Internet is via TeamSpeak Systems GmbH's official website at www.TeamSpeak.com. You may not distribute TeamSpeak software otherwise over the Internet, unless you obtain prior written consent from TeamSpeak Systems GmbH or Triton CI & Associates, Inc. to do so.

I would think this is something for which we can't provide our own packages. We could possibly provide a script, similar to that which pinoc wrote to download VirtualBox from the Oracle site. Each download requires agreement with the above EULA, so that may pose a problem.

I would think that is only proper in light of the EULA. As pointed out by  O-P, instead of the source being archived directly, you can have your RPM download the source and install for the user.

We strongly recommend that you do NOT download TeamSpeak from any website other than our own. Key reasons for this are:

Downloading from our site ensures that you will always have the very latest, virus-free version of our product.
You must acknowledge our License Agreement prior to downloading. Downloading from our website ensures that you are presented with the latest version of the TeamSpeak End User License Agreement.

You may NOT mirror our files or link directly to our files without our express, written permission. However, you may link back to our download page or our website's home page using our official Media Kit graphics. Please contact if you have any questions.

so we have to do a full ban from repo

download via script isnt allowed.

Sad it is such a nice program

Heya ghostbunny,

You can try and contact them about permitting PCLinuxOS to include their source on your SRPMS and RPMS, and that you will send them a copy of those for their consent and approval. Worst thing they can do is say "No". That would probably be your last option unless someone else has a better suggestion around this limitation.

i dont belive that they would do it because in an rpm the user dont agree the eula and i think that's what they want

Yeah, and that's what really sucks. They could reach a wider audience by allowing distros to package their app ... and they could benefit from support or in however they think they can take advantage on such an arrangement.

Sorry to hear that's one app that's not gonna be on the repo.

It doesn't say that. It says you can't link directly to their files, and the end user must be presented with their EULA, for acceptance, before downloading. If we can devise a d/l script that meets those requirements, we should be OK. I would still think it best to submit such a script to them for approval, before offering it in the repo.

The real question is... do we actually need this proprietary app available from our repo?

with this restriction probably not, the user can download it and run the install script. with a repo script we would reinvent the wheel i think.
