[SOLVED] Realtek wireless driver

 I think i downloaded the driver from the link below:

I have downloaded the same file, successfully compiled, but the resulting module doesn't support your card,

searching around have found the correct driver on the same web page: RTL8188CUS under section unix:

Linux Kernel 2.6.18~2.6.38 and Kernel 3.0.2              3.3.2_3192      2012/1/9       8322k

the filename is: RTL819xCU_USB_linux_ v3[1].3.2_3192.zip

Download the file, open a terminal and su to root, and perform the following commands:

cd <location where you have downloaded the zip file>
unzip -x RTL819xCU_USB_linux_ v3[1].3.2_3192.zip
cd RTL8188C_8192C_8192D_USB_linux_v3.3.2_3192.20120103
cd driver
tar xvf rtl8188C_8192C_8192D_usb_linux_v3.3.2_3192.20120103.tar.gz
cd rtl8188C_8192C_8192D_usb_linux_v3.3.2_3192.20120103
make

if compilation was successful the following command should report:

now copy the built module: (assuming you are in the same directory where you typed the modinfo command, su to root):

cp  8192cu.ko   /lib/modules/2.6.38.8-pclos3.bfs/kernel/drivers/net/wireless
depmod -a

now the modules is installed, the following command should confirm all is OK:

# modprobe --show-depends 8192cu
insmod /lib/modules/2.6.38.8-pclos3.bfs/kernel/drivers/usb/core/usbcore.ko.gz
insmod /lib/modules/2.6.38.8-pclos3.bfs/kernel/drivers/net/wireless/8192cu.ko

edit the file /etc/modprobe.preload and add the following line:

8192cuthen reboot

Upon reboot, open a terminal, su to root again:

lsmod | grep 8192should result something like (not identical):

8192cu                468964  0
usbcore               117923  8 8192cu,btusb,uvcvideo,uhci_hcd,ohci_hcd,ehci_hcd,usbhid

open PCLinuxOS control center and configure your wireless NIC

If that is right, all i can see is modprobe.preload.d folder.

Hmm ... there should exist both:
a file: /etc/modprobe.preload
a dir: /etc/modprobe.preload.d

What PCLinuxOS ISO did you installed ?

 i copied what you said, rebooted and then went into network connections, put in my settings and rebooted again.

Once the desktop started i was connected to the internet, so it works.
