[SOLVED] Only have sound through headphone jack

I'm "on the road" and using a Compaq Presario CQ62. Overall no complaints except there is no sound from the speakers with unmuted volume completely up. Headphones work OK. I entered draksound from a command line and got this message;

"Cannot find policy file entry for action id 'org.freedesktop.hal.device-access.sound'
Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_cell_view_set_cell_data: assertion `cell_view->priv->displayed_row != NULL' failed at /usr/lib/libDrakX/interactive/gtk.pm line 522."

Anyone know what that means and how I fix it?  It looks BAD (I hate anything "CRITICAL".

alsaconf fixed it.
