Icons are gone here too.  In Full, Bonsai and EDU versions after update.

Jeff

No change with today's updates either.

Did you logout/login or reboot after updating?

for what it's worth they aren't working for me either, (not that I mind). maybe it's because I have the 2011 openbox and not the 2012 openbox?

edit: I just looked at all the installed packages and they are all 2010 or 2011 with a few 2007 and 2009 versions mixed in.

Good things come in small packages. From small minds, not so much.

None here, either. I've updated a 2011 PC and a 2012 VM. I really don't mind whether the icons show or not. It may be something in the XDG settings. I guess I could reinstall the 2012 VM and backup everything, then do the update. Or, maybe Melodie can chime in with what's missing.

Hi djohnston,

I sure would like to help. What I can say is for now the problem is solved in the version actually in test for a future x86_64. Not in the current version yet. I hope it will soon be.

Regards,
Mélodie

Hello
I  just updated from OB 3.5.02 to 3.5.05 and all icons have disappeared from my highly customized right click menu.
This is a bit of a disaster for me as I rely on the right click menu to launch everything.
I posted details on the LXDE forums recently about my right click Openbox menu and use of xdotool to minimize the number of right clicks required when switching between multiple menus.

The menu system still works but I would really like to have the icons back.
I thought to 'force the older version 3.5.02' in Synaptic, but that option is grayed out.
Is there a workaround for me to get the icons back please?

Incidentally, with regards to Melodie's experiments with Nautilus. I also noticed stability problems (and added unwanted features) in certain filemanagers. I changed to Xfe and I am very happy with it. Xfe has many configuration options, it is fast (opens usr/bin instantly without waiting an age), stable and clean (free from unnecessary features that annoy (minimalists)), but has many useful features not found elsewhere.

The right click menu icons would be very much appreciated (fairly essential), if that is possible.
Thanks.

PCLOS OB 17th Jan 2012 (xsnow)
Removed tint2, no panels, stalonetray.
Right click menu (similar to those outlined by kjdixo on LXDE forums)
Works with NVIDIA twin view.
Works with AMD Catalyst triple monitors 3x1680x1050 (I am using that now).

Patience. It's being looked at. At least we still have working menus, right?  ;)

XFE is a great file manager. I use it often myself. The only thing I wish it had is volume management, like PCManFM, Thunar and Nautilus.

Thanks for your quick reply.
Yes the menus still work.
Point taken about Xfe.
Volume management would be useful.
I have to right click on cdrom or cdrom2 then click mount or unmount (mount points had to be initially configured  in the control center).
I will stick with Xfe for now as it is doing everything I expect and nothing unexpected.
I might also set up a 'sacrificial test computer' identical to my everyday one.
That will mean experiments and upgrades can be tested first, so that if the worst happens and everything breaks ... it will not affect my main computer.

Normally, all removable volumes are mounted in /media. If you have no fstab entry and let udev do the mounting of an inserted volume, you can unmount it in XFE by going to the /media directory to unmount it. I'd simply prefer to have the volumes show up in the left pane of the browser. It's just a slight inconvenience. But, whatever you prefer.

One thing XFE does well is setting up symlinks. Can't do it in PCManFM. And XFE's right-click menus offer many, many options. Well, there's tradeoffs to everything. Like having menus, but missing the associated icons, eh?  ;)

Read the whole thread before you decide to do this testing. There is no official package for this file manager.
