try, from terminal, su to root:

Code: [Select]
cpufreq-set -g powersave

cpufreq-set -g powersave

I'd tried that on my desktop that displays the same behaviour with cpufreq as Aleph's laptop.

It does work - however powersave reduces cpu frequency to the range minimum - things are s-l-o-w.

The ondemand and conservative governors don't seem to respond.

(not that I'm worried about my old desktop cpu speed - I was just trying to replicate Aleph's problem)

I haven't been able to find anything to get ondemand governor working on my old desktop that behaves like Aleph's laptop.

Perhaps he will have more success.

Powersave works fine - so maybe it is an option with a slightly higher minimum frequency set in /etc/sysconfig/cpufreq (I think his true minimum of 217MHz would be pretty slow)?

Well, thanks friends,  but I have to wait...

The Laptop is now in other city, really it was my daughter's laptop and she is now at the University...

I have to wait at lest for a week to try a solution...

Now I have only my netbook and PCLOS LXDE work fine fine, cpufreq ondemand is working well too.

I will tell you the next week... sorry.
