Licensed in 1982 but not very active now with the exception of a bit of PSK31 activity using fldigi.   Got rid of everything about nine years ago and recently acquired and FT 1000 to play with.

Got into Linux with the first release of Slackware when running tcp/ip over the radio and experiencing memory problems with Windows 3.1 and have used Linux exclusively ever since.   Just installed PCLinuxOS 2012.09, went on my laptop ok but had a few problems with the desktop which took a bit of sorting but now ok.   Tried most distros including PCLinuxOS over the years but this really is the Dog's Bollocks!

73 this year.   That's me and look forward to meeting some of you on the air.

Hi Serge

I'm another ham you can add to your list. I'm moderately active on the HF bands. Mainly 80 & 40M. Also into SDR transceivers.

I'm building a Genisis G59 at the moment and hope to get some software going on PCLOS for it.

I also have a Funcube Dongle here which I have running on PCLOS using QTHID as the controller and Quisk as the SDR software.

I have been using PCLOS since version Preveiw 0.92 which was released in late 2005.

I'm not a HAM but my oldest son is.  I usually see Russ from the Linux In the Ham Shack podcast at OLF, didn't see him at this last one though.  http://lhspodcast.info/

I've been a Ham since 1974.  Some years other hobbies get more attention; but, I have always returned the the radio hobby.  I just sent my card request for the Malpalo DXpedition (HK0NA).  That was a big success.  Their web page is www.hk0na.com.  It contains many photos of them setting the equipment onto the  volcanic rock.

I have also been computing for some time.  I bet a few may remember my first computer-- Timex Sinclair 1000.  That was great for it's time.   I have tried many of the major distros; but, PCLinuxOS has been my only operating system for several years.  As you know IT WORKS!

Hi Serge,

Call here is N3AQM. Got my ticket in 1975. Love CW and AM on the HF bands, haven't been too active for quite a spell but hope to fire up the old boat anchors in the near future!! Thinking of trying PCLinuxOS with VHF/UHF Digital and have dabbled with EchoLink for about a year on PCLinuxOS (PC connect only) but want to try Sysop mode as well as simplex link. PcLinuxOS is a great distro and should interface well with the Amateur Radio world.

Does a SWL (Short Wave Listener) count ?, I was more active in my 'Teen' years then found that there was 'Girls' so I never got my licence :D.
Still do a bit of listening up and down the bands but more active with Linux and Building My Own House nowadays.

Howdy,
First licensed in 1978 as WD0GFI, and then changed my call in 1980 to N0CPC. My current call since 1999 is WK0DX .
I'm active on vhf-uhf along with the higher HF bands. Primarily 17 meters and up SSB and psk31. Some psk31 on 30 meters as well.
I began using PCLOS about 2005 v91 I think it was. I've been using PCLOS every since as my main OS. I run Fldigi and Xlog to name a few.
It's great to see more hams here.
Best 73 and Good DX,
Orb
