on4aa,
I too am licensed but haven't been active for many years. I gained my first callsign ZL2WI in 1968 and then moved to ZL4 in 1971. There, I held the call ZL4FI until 1974. While down south at that time, my old call remained vacant. As soon as I heard that I was moving, on promotion, back to ZL2, I applied to get my old call back. Thus, from late 1974, I have been ZL2WI.  Later, the rules were changed here in ZL in that callsigns were not changed when a licensee moved districts.

Only equipment these days is an ancient Icom 22S and a Kenwood  TS 120. The latter has a blown PTT chip resulting from a failed packet radio experiment. Can't get a replacement chip.

I've been a Ham since 1974.  Some years other hobbies get more attention; but, I have always returned the the radio hobby.  I just sent my card request for the Malpalo DXpedition (HK0NA).  That was a big success.  Their web page is www.hk0na.com.  It contains many photos of them setting the equipment onto the  volcanic rock.

I have also been computing for some time.  I bet a few may remember my first computer-- Timex Sinclair 1000.  That was great for it's time.   I have tried many of the major distros; but, PCLinuxOS has been my only operating system for several years.  As you know IT WORKS!

I too haven't been active for several years, but miss the hobby. At the age of 80, it would be a struggle to become active again!

On4AA De G3KFB

There are quite a few of us lurking here ;D

PCLinuxOS has quite a few good ham programs in the repo's. I like Fldigi (with libhamlib) for psk.
At the moment I'm having great fun leaving the rig running in the shack hooked up to an old dell laptop running PCLinuxOS with Fldigi on it and then using teamviewer to remote operate it from the comfort of a nice warm living room  8) (this also stops the XYL from compaining that I spend too much time in the shack)

I'm sure you will find a warm welcome in the forums.... 73's De Nick G3KFB.
