Volume Icon slider not working in 2012.01...{SOLVED}

....onboard sound : VIA-VT82xx audio (snd_via82xx[ALSA])

Volume control knob on speakers works very well - but no control with icon in tray- not even "mute"...

....worked fine with 2010.x  (lxde)

-just noting here...in case somebody else experienced this.

What says the preferences?
Right click on icon...

.......upon rechecking - it seems the "preferences" -ICON all work physically (with the mouse)but the actual SOUND is not being controlled by the slider bar...not even the mute "x" does anything....

Maybe the 'CHANNEL' needs to be changed? and i'm not familiar what it is supposed to be...

Channel = MASTER

I did turn UP the volume adj to 100 from 40.

EXTERNAL MIXER is : {gmixer}

left button: show slider
middle mouse button: open mixer

hotkeys: / volume up  - x86 Audio raise volume
               / volume down - x86 Audio lower volume
               /  mute -x86 audio mute

........ I'd like to show a screenshot, but cannot remember how to -on this forum. I did take a "screenie" (of the preferences) and its in the clients home folder.  

Sorry for my lack of memory.

EDIT: I changed "MASTER" to "PCM" and it works fine now!   Thanks Leiche for steering me in the right direction.
{I'm still wondering hot to post a screenshot with screenie, though...I'm pretty sure i used to know, but old timers disease is prevailing. }

Click on Channel and change Master to what else you have list. Works?
