the latest version of LiveUSB-Creator is 0.9.7.

AS

I've just checked synaptic and the relevant entry on my Pass repo says PcLinuxos-liveusb 0.9.5-3 Apparently it has not yet received the latest version

Maurice,

1) When you run More Applications > Configuration > PVLinuxOS Live USB Creator, what version does it show?
2) How many partitions are on the USB?
3) What are the results of fdisk -l from a terminal as root?
4) What is on the USB drive now that you cannot afford to lose?

(1) 0.9.5

(2) 2 partitions

(3) Disk /dev/sda: 500.1 GB, 500107862016 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 60801 cylinders, total 976773168 sectors
Units = sectors of 1 * 512 = 512 bytes
Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
I/O size (minimum/optimal): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
Disk identifier: 0x0007671a

Device Boot      Start         End      Blocks   Id  System
/dev/sda1   *          63   286712054   143355996    7  HPFS/NTFS
/dev/sda2       286712055   493066239   103177092+  83  Linux
/dev/sda3       493066240   771682303   139308032    5  Extended
/dev/sda4       771682304   976773119   102545408   83  Linux

/dev/sda7       763496448   771682303     4092928   83  Linux
[root@localhost ~]#

(4) 2 copies of my remaster which do not work - and which I am quite happy to lose. ;D

But how should that have made any difference? I also used gparted to do the partitions.

I would say a file system can get corrupted ? I am not an expert on the matter.... I suppose someone knowing how electronic items can stay healty or get sick would have more answers. Fact : it is sometimes a good solution.

Have you tried your ISO in Virtualbox, to be sure it is good ?

No I haven't melodie - too much trouble. ;D And it should be solvable without having to do that.

Okay. The 0.9.7 version was sent out about a week or more ago. Are you pressing the Reload button in Synaptic? Which repository are you using?

I have a sneaky suspicion you're writing to the wrong USB partition, although I have no evidence of that. My advice, insert the USB drive, start PCC, delete the partitions on your USB drive (/dev/sdb), then create one partition the size of the USB, and format it as ext3 or ext4.

Don't delete anything on /dev/sda 500GB drive. You also need to be running the newest Live USB creator.

I just opened synaptic again, pressed the Reload button and it offered the same version - 0.9.5 as an upgrade.  ??? I am using a Pass repo - no name no packdrill. ;D

Am just about to do what you suggest above. Will report back shortly.

Maurice, forget about PASS for now:

you could try ftp.nluug.nl, or heanet... they are good repositories.

Done. PCC disk partition program failed so did it with Gparted.

Now have one 14gb partition formatted to ext3 and ready to go again. ;D ;D

I've just used heanet and have downloaded the latest version of Live USB Creator. I will try it again in a few hours time.

djohnston, beautiful doc !

I would just like to suggest you add the information about format to ext2 or ext3 for persistent mode, at the beginning of the tutorial. Then it can reused, copied to wiki, to pclos mag (+1 Xenaflux) translated... :D
