Cheers for the mem check command i will do that as soon as i have tried the AMD kernel (next on my list) the processor is i am sure is fast enough to go with the 1000 hertz PAE bfs kernel.
I have been unplugging the drive with my backup on it during testing. Once i am happy i will back up the drive i intend to use and clean install to it.
We are homing in on it however there may soon be a further update in the rep for the HEXA processor (6 core AMD) that i will go for in an instant!
The DVD drive issue there are two
I had so much trouble with getting Pclos 2012 onto the dieing intel MB that i had downloaded the live CD image to an old AMD box with only 500mb of RAM. I tried to create the live CD as per downloaded image using K3b selecting the iso9660 option. An error message appeared when i loaded a Verbatim 4X DVD+RW. I then gave up and copied the file as downloaded as a FAT32 to the same DVD without issue. I then took it to the box with the new MB that worked from the box It was built and bench tested by my supplier (cclonline.com).
I copied it to the hard drive that contained my files running Pclos 2010 and tried to make a live CD onto another unused DVD+RW and got the same message. I then put the first DVD with the live CD image on it as a FAT32 on it and there was no error message and it worked without issue. Both Pclos 2010 and 2009 showed the same message with a new DVD loaded. I am unable to rule out a bug of some kind.

It just showed no medium present and failed. The image did not show in message preview (from Ksnapshot) for some reason.
What, pray tell, has FAT32 got to do with burning an .iso image to disk? Why are you using DVD+RW for an image small enough to fit on a CD-R or CD-RW? How did you get PCLinuxOS installed to your hard drive?
I keep reading what you wrote, but have no idea of what it is you are trying to say. None of it makes any sense at all.
Standard Method For Installing PCLinuxOS:1. Download image.
2. Burn image to CD-R or CD-RW disk.
3. Install PCLinuxOS from running liveCD.
You say you completed step 1, failed step 2, so how did you accomplish step 3?
You are telling us a story, without giving any meaningful information we can relate to. Without details of what you've done, step by step, and the results or each step as they occurred, in proper order, it remains just a story, and as told, makes no sense. You make reference to processes and file systems that have nothing whatever to do with the above three steps, and refer to getting a downloaded image onto an Intel motherboard, which also makes no sense. If you don't use the correct words and phrases when writing a sentence, and don't organize them in a logical manner, how are we supposed to understand what it is you are trying to say?
