Welcome seppalta  and  princethrash  I've been having  this (look the two Firefox icons, the yellow and the orange) and didn't understand why (didn't search also), I will try what I read here.

I shall pass this way but once;
any good therefore that I can do,
or any kindness that I can show
let me not defer nor neglect it,
for I shall not pass this way again.

+1

I believe they were bundled with Compiz years ago and they're (obviously) called Neon. I may have a bit more complete than that, Crow ... I remember I also added a PCC, etc.  ;)

BTW @princethrash, thanks again. Your suggestion, however crude it was, WORKS! I just changed my systray icons for Dropbox, KimToy and Zim. Great!

LKJ may have a PhD on black/dark backgrounds but he does colors too. ;D

Myself, on the other hand, is hardcore black/dark/minimalist ...

I have a feeling LKJ will be along soon.  ;D

I endorse black with color, and that's because magenta and cyan and blue and red floating in blackness reminds me of a BBS.

I was considering banning white altogether, but I find it necessary for the task bar and clock font.  I scraped a program I was playing with, that changed the lxpanel font color in relation to my remaining battery charge, partially because I couldn't take non-white colors for font.

I like stark, simple icons, no shading or even outlines, so while I use colorful icons, they tend to be super simple, of a single color, and low resolution.  Which to me makes them more minimal than some grayscale stuff.

Archie, if you post a screenshot, I'll show you the hideous color monster I'm working on.
