Test/Check Request: Service Menu Editor
« on: January 21, 2012, 12:01:29 PM »
Hi,

See thread http://www.pclinuxos.com/forum/index.php/topic,101768.0.html for details of this little tool.
Maybe someone has packaged it already but as it was a nice simple project to start with I decided to have a go at packaging it myself because I would like to help with packaging at some point in the future (when I have proved to be good enough).

So I am submitting it here for testing but I would also like experienced packagers to take a look at my SRPM/spec-file and give me feedback (good or bad   ;) )

   RPM Package:  http://dl.dropbox.com/u/41375498/servicemenueditor-0.2a-2_terryn_2012.noarch.rpm
           md5sum: 8857acd56ad95ca6da36952b6c056f93

               SRPM: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/41375498/servicemenueditor-0.2a-2_terryn_2012.src.rpm
           md5sum: 3c7a114fcc0e6f066be8904cbf57867e

Menu entry is in PC->More Applications->Configuration

Thanks in advance
Terry

EDIT:
Revision 2 - Create menu entries for normal user and root (like Bleachbit)

Heya TerryN,

The specfile looked good and it built without issues. I've installed it and will test it. It looks good.

Peace and much respect,
Archie

Thanks TerryN ........  installed and working without incident.

Used the root entry to remove a couple of unneeded entries that could not be removed as user.

Thank you for doing this one  ;)

Many thanks for the feedback guys, it is much appreciated.

I have been testing it myself and I've come across a slight problem.  It doesn't cope with .desktop files which have more than 1 Action entry (e.g. ark_servicemenu.desktop or build-spec.desktop).  Presumably, this is because it wouldn't create such files itself but it does limit it's usefulness.  If you try to edit an entry you only get presented the first entry in the file and deleting any entry deletes the whole file  :o

It looks like the author hasn't worked on it in almost 2 years so I might have to fix it myself  ;)

I'll see what I can do  :)

Terry.
