Gparted won't accept root password??? [SOLVED!]

So the GParted that is being discussed is using the parted that I installed in KDE-mini and played with?

That parted is the same used when we do a draklive-install from a liveCD, the process which I at will can make fail?

If so I am interested big time.

Went to bed last night, just seen your message here. Yes almost missed it as I mainly read the headers and GParted was already off my focus for another couple of days while waiting for a particular USB key arrive for testing  (with parted)

I have tried a couple of repos but 0.11.... has not hit yet.  I am normally on the aarnet mirror in Australia. I will look at it when I find it in repo, have left the "testing" in synaptic.

Swapping these two files (as root) corrects the issue

mv /etc/pam.d/gparted ~
mv /etc/security/console.apps/gparted /etc/pam.d/
mv ~/gparted /etc/security/console.apps/

Just one question... some of you say that you don't use/like GParted, what programme do you like to use that you think's better?

Diskdrake is installed by default >>> PCC > Local disks > Manage disk partitions.

For those using KDE there is also KDE Partition Manager ......  essentially the same as GParted.
